Footwork, slashing, piercing, parrying, and blocking. Those were the main aspects of the dual-wielding style.
As Caesar was studying the book, he heard a creaking sound, and light footsteps enter into the room.
Caesar slowly turned around and saw a drowsy Renee begin to undress, she didn't notice Caesar yet and stripped down until she was fully nude. Three white-colored tails protruded out from her lower back, and it looked like another one was starting to grow.
Renee yawned and slowly climbed on to her bed without noticing someone staring at her through the darkness…
Caesar gulped audibly and began brainstorming inside of his head "how unforeseen, perhaps I could wait until she falls asleep to leave" Caesar stroked his chin without adverted his gaze from the nude Renee.
Caesar waited a few minutes before he could hear her rhythmic and calm breathing, taking this as a sign for her to be in a deep sleep. Caesar slowly stood up from the chair.
Caesar stubbed his toe on one of the desk legs. Caesar furrowed his brows in pain "even a noble vampire is not immune to the pain of stubbing a toe?" Caesar thought silently to himself as he glanced towards the bed.
"Mmmmm, who is there?" Renee grumbled and opened her beautiful yellow eyes widely.
Caesar and Renee stared at each other silently for a full ten seconds before finally, Caesar smile seductively "you're finally up?"
"W-what the hell are you doing in my room?" Renee blushed furiously and covered herself.
Caesar, without breaking eye contact, "There is no possible way I can explain this without her doubting me," he mused to himself.
He could see Renee fidgeting under the covers in irritation at his silence, Caesar slowly took off his shirt, smiled, and asked her curiously, "do you not want me here?"
"I-it’s not as though I don't… but w-we are not married, a-a-and this is so sudden," Renee stammered for words as she averted her gaze from Caesar's perfect abdominal muscles.
Caesar slowly stepped forward "excellent, I have shifted the topic," Caesar thought to himself as he got closer and closer to her.
Renee's breath grew hotter and more embarrassed the closer Caesar got to her, finally, when Caesar reached her bed, he slowly climbed on top of her.
She flailed her arms, but Caesar expertly pinned her arms above her head and put his knees between her legs so she couldn't move her legs.
"H-have you done this before?" Renee asked, flabbergasted, and frustrated.
Caesar didn't answer her question and slowly trailed his hand from her chest downwards, he put his mouth by her ear and whispered in a hot breath "you and me both know that you don't want to resist, the proof is right here."
Renee adverted her eyes, and her body went limp. Caesar moved his mouth closer to her neck, and as his fingers were about to reach below her navel, a young voice halted their actions.
"Momma, I tried looking for daddy's room everywhere, but I couldn't find it, do you know where it is?" A little girl with long raven black hair that reached her lower back and a beauty spot under the left side of her lip… her eyes were a beautiful light vermillion. She was currently rubbing her puffy eyes and pouting while entering into Renee's room.
As if Renee had gained a newfound power that she was hiding, she immediately broke out of Caesar's pin and kicked him in his groin.
Caesar's eyes went wide as sweat started flowing down his entire face, he controlled himself from roaring out in pain as he was thrown off the bed by Renee.
Caesar fell to the ground while gritting his teeth, Renee immediately got off the bed and comforted Elizabeth… "why don't you just want to sleep with me" Renee asked lovingly.
Elizabeth looked at the side of the bed, curiously, "What was that sound?"
"Probably a bug or something." Renee laughed awkwardly and put her hand on Elizabeth's shoulder.
Caesar was screaming out injustice in his head, "she referred to me as a bug? Haha, I will be sure to get my vengeance," he secretly plotted while gnashing his teeth in pain.
Caesar heard two people climb on to the bed. After waiting for a few minutes, he could hear a teasing immature voice.
"Hehe, you love my daddy, don't you? Isn't that why you told me to call you mommy when dad wasn't around?"
"I-I-I don't have any recollection of asking such a thing?" Renee replied, flustered.
"Hmm? Why are you lying, momma?"
"L-lying, I'm not lying?" Renee replied, embarrassed.
"Are you calling me a liar then?" Elizabeth asked while pouting.
"N-no, I-I" Renee stammered for excuses but could not find any…
Caesar almost burst out laughing from the floor. Eventually, the two girls on the bed abruptly stopped conversing with each other, and he could hear their rhythmic and calm breathing.
Caesar stood up slowly and limped out of the room, "I suppose I have learned my lesson; foxes are much feistier than they look" Caesar contemplated with a dark expression as he walked out of the room.
Caesar didn't' forget to pick up the book that was still lying on the table before walking out, once he reached the halls he picked a different room nearby and crawled into bed and falling asleep.
Sunlight invaded Caesar's room the next morning, abruptly waking him. Caesar stretched his limbs and walked into the bathroom.
Caesar splashed some water on his face and brushed his hair, he prepared a bath and cleaned himself. Once he was done grooming himself, he walked out of the bathroom and headed towards the closet in this new room.
His regular clothes were nowhere to be seen and were replaced by some rough looking garbs. Caesar rummaged through the garments and picked out baggy, blue pants that were held by a brown belt and dark overalls, black military boots, and a skin-tight black training shirt that perfectly showcased the outlines of his muscles.
He put on a pair of brown silk gloves and stepped out of the room. He could smell a delicious aroma invading his nostrils right as he stepped out.
Following the aroma, he walked through the halls and made it to the dining room.
Caesar pushed open the large wooden gates and walked into the room, Sebastian immediately bowed and greeted him "I apologize for not waking you up sooner, I was unaware of which room you were sleeping in"
Caesar put his hand up, "don't worry about it. The fault lies with me and not you," Caesar said, smiling slightly and walking to the dining room.
Elizabeth soon came running towards Caesar and hugging his right thigh "I was looking for you last night, but you were hiding, I won't let you escape this time!" She giggled playfully.
Caesar rubbed her hair and sat at the table with her on his lap… He glanced at Renee that was on the other end of the table. Right when their eyes made contact, she averted her gaze and blushed furiously.
Caesar laughed tenderly and whispered into Elizabeth's ears, "do you want a mommy?"
Elizabeth's eyes turned wide with surprise as she glanced at Renee… and replied with a happy smile, "nope, I already have one."
Caesar laughed gently and started digging into the breakfast, prepared on the table.
CHAPTER SIX
Caesar finished his breakfast quickly. He then lifted Elizabeth from his lap and placed her on the ground. "I have to go out for a bit today, but I promise you can sleep with me tonight" Caesar kissed her on the forehead and smiled at her.
"Hehe, you better not break your promise, or I'm going to…."
She paused for a second with a pondering look.
"I'll Shake uncle Joe's hands without a glove on!" Elizabeth's laugh echoed throughout the palace halls as Caesar's expression became darker.
Caesar patted her on the head and smiled reassuringly, "trust me. I don't break my promises," Caesar said as he started walking away. He glanced at Renee that was sitting on the opposite end of the table for a second before smirking and turning away.
Caesar exited the dining room and entered into the main palace halls. Along the way, he spotted Sebastian busily ordering
around some maids. Caesar walked towards him, "Sebastian, where are those three subordinates of mine?"
Sebastian turned around surprised after he heard Caesar's voice and replied respectfully. "They have been overseeing the construction of your weapons young master."
Caesar nodded his head in comprehension, "has anyone offered to buy the weapons, in particular, other countries or kingdoms?" Caesar asked curiously
Sebastian's lips curled upward… "no kingdoms have asked to buy your weapons yet. However, the merchants guild inside Rahvin kingdom had wanted to arrange a meeting with you. I, of course, had declined at the time because you were busy."
Caesar nodded and asked: "Can you arrange a meeting with them this afternoon?"
Sebastian nodded his head and bowed, "as you command young master."
Sebastian immediately started walking out of the palace, presumably to arrange the meeting. Seeing this, Caesar smiled and also headed out of the castle.
Right as Caesar walked out of the palace gates the suns glare immediately illuminated Caesar's face, Caesar shaded his face with his hand and continued walking.
The guards defending the gates saluted when they caught sight of Caesar, "greetings to the Marshall."
Caesar nodded in acknowledgment and continued walking down the long steps. Caesar soon arrived at the training grounds where the sight of the sweaty knights training under Edward could be seen.
The knights continuously swung down their swords, perfecting their form. Caesar stroked his chin in contemplation, "it seems as though the sword style that Edward uses is similar to the Japanese styles on earth?" he thought to himself silently.
Caesar's presence was soon noticed, and all of the knights stopped practicing and saluted.
"We greet the Marshall!" They roared out
Edward stopped training the knights and walked towards Caesar… "long time no see Edward" Caesar opened up first and said towards Edward.
Edward smiled, "indeed, I didn't know the joy of passing on my techniques before, but I have become quite addicted, haha" Edward scratched his head and laughed.
"You're going to need to part ways with them sooner or later," Caesar said with a teasing tone.
Edward's face turned serious and asked: "when are we leaving?"
Caesar looked up "we should leave soon, my father should solidify his position as king, and my weapons should start selling soon…" Caesar replied
Edward nodded his head slowly "I will prepare, does the empress know we are leaving soon?"
Caesar shook his head slowly "no, I didn't tell her… I will probably let her know tonight."
Edwards face soon turned sad "I was hoping that she could stay here for longer, she never once smiled at our home…"
Caesar looked at Edward curiously "although I agreed to become her strategist, I was never briefed on the details… is your clan in dire circumstances?"
Edward hesitated for a minute before letting out a long sigh. "Renee's grandfather, the current head of the kitsune clan, is severely ill… He is long past the expected lifespan of a kitsune. His last order was to crown Renee as empress, unfortunately, Renee had little to no backing because of her grandfather's illness. Moreover, many of our clan elders don't want to be ruled over by a woman." Edward said with a dark expression.
Caesar looked at Edward with surprise, "is it just an inner struggle?" he asked with curiosity.
Edward looked down. "If that were the case, the empress would not have had to leave home to find a strategist. The nearby trolls are looking at our lands hungrily, and the troll prince had asked the empresses grandfather for Renee's hand in marriage. Many of our clan elders support it. However, her grandfather is against it."
Caesar suddenly laughed loudly and squinted his eyes dangerously "how strong are these trolls compared to your clan?" he asked quietly, not masking his killing intent in the slightest.
"The trolls and kitsune are generally equal in power, they are both mid-low clans. However, the troll king is still in his prime and no one in our clan can defeat him after the clan head got ill."
Caesar nodded his head in understanding, "how strong was your clan head in his prime?" Caesar asked
"Our clan has rank one to five warriors, with rank one being the strongest and five the weakest. The clan head is a rank one warrior in our clan, and the troll king was roughly on par with the clan head before he got ill" Edward replied
Caesar stroked his chin, "how strong am I compared to your clan head?" Caesar asked curiously
Edward thought for a moment and replied: "I am a rank four warrior and I pose no chance against you. The empress is considered a rank three warrior…"
Caesar nodded in understanding, "how many are stronger than a rank one warrior in the dark continent?" Caesar changed the subject and asked curiously.
"The dark continent is where the strong thrive, bloody battles happen daily there… many are stronger than a rank one warrior," Edward replied seriously.
Caesar calmed down his raising emotions and asked Edward one last question, "how do the trolls act as a race?"
Suddenly Edwards's expression darkened "the trolls are similar to goblins. There are no female trolls… They capture women from other races to breed more trolls."
Edward paused for a second and continued.
"The trolls believe that the stronger and more beautiful the woman, the stronger the man. That is also why the troll prince wants the empress's hand in marriage. The problem is that the trolls don't treat their women as equals, but as just breeding partners, there are many cases in the past of the trolls kidnapping our clan's women for their large mana supply."
Caesar looked at Edward that was currently shaking in rage… "how was the race created if there are no females?"
Edward shook his head "no one knows, they are a race that relies on others to survive… they are vile and evil."
Caesar patted Edward on the shoulder and smiled, "come, lets spar Edward” he said as he walked over to a rack full of wooden swords.
Edward nodded absentmindedly and also picked out a wooden sword.
Caesar found two wooden sabers and walked to the middle of the training grounds; the rest of the knights circled to watch this duel.
"Hey, who do you think is going to win? The Marshall or the swordmaster?" one of the knights asked the person next to him.
"Is that even a question?" the knight replied back.
"Clearly, the Marshall, remember when he brought all of those flame bears?"
A few knights shuttered at the reminder and focused back towards the middle of the training grounds.
Caesar stood with both swords in hand, "I had read a bit of that book, but It's useless without actual practice," Caesar thought to himself as Edward walked towards him.
Edward raised his sword and got in battle stance, Caesar did the same and roared out.
"BEGIN!"
Caesar immediately kicked off the ground and rushed at Edward. He controlled his speed slightly and slashed down according to the illustrations depicted in the books.
Caesar's movements were still rough, but he quickly made up for it with his speed, Edward furrowed his brows and brought his sword him.
Edward tilted his sword to the left, parrying Caesar's blade and swung downwards.
With ease, Caesar blocked Edwards's strike with his left sword and struck down once again with his right blade.
Caesar toned down his speed to match Edward. They exchanged multiple strikes, with Caesar slightly losing ground each attack... Caesar closed his eyes and imagined the illustrations in the book.
Slowly Caesar's skill improved and his slashed contained more fluidity, Edward looked at this scene with shock, "is he weakening himself to train with me?" Edward thought, inwardly.
Caesar's speed slowly increased and increased. Sweat flowed down Edwards' face, and his arms went numb. He was no longer capable of keeping up.
Caesar's right eye glowed red as he tilted to the right and dodged Edwards
slashed, he moved one step closer and closed the distance.
Edward dropped his sword and put his hands up in the air signaling the end of the fight. Caesar retracted his sword from Edwards' neck.
"Whew, that was a close one, Edward… I gained a lot of experience," Caesar breathed out a sigh and placed his two wooden sabers on a nearby racket.
He didn't' wait for Edwards's reaction and walked out of the training grounds, "Sebastian should have arranged a meeting with the merchants guild in the afternoon," Caesar thought to himself as he walked away.
