  CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The next morning, sunlight escaped into the room. Caesar's eyes twitched, and he could once again feel a soft body on top of him.

He lowered his gaze and saw Renee in a deep sleep while curled on top of him. Caesar shook his head wryly and waited for her to wake up.

As if Renee's body instinctually knew that someone was staring at her while sleeping, her eyes fluttered slightly, and she raised her body.

  "Good morning," Caesar said quietly.

Renee rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked at Caesar with a dead-pan expression, once she remembered what happened last night, her face turned a little hint of red, and she averted her eyes.

"I-I don't mind that you were doing 'that' but give me a warning next time," she said in a hushed voice as she got off the bed.

"Haha, doesn't the surprise factor make it more exciting?" Caesar chuckled softly and also stepped off the bed.

Renee glanced at Caesar with a devious smile "I won't let you play with me as you please… If you don't give me a warning beforehand, I won't let you embrace me again," she said as her gaze lowered to his crotch.

Caesar looked at her speechlessly and laughed, "you win, my queen, I will be sure to give you a warning next time."

Renee lifted her chin up and softly laughed in her hand, "you're not the only one with cards to play, you know?" she said, amusedly.

Caesar walked towards his closet and gave her a side-wards glance, "but, your card only works if you, yourself, can abide by it."

Caesar didn't turn around to see her twitching smile and rummaged through his closet… "I will be taking you to the ball tonight, wear something nice."

Renee tilted her head in confusion, "a ball?"

Caesar turned his head and explained patiently, "it's somewhat like a party. You will be able to greet many nobles."

Renee's face turned troubled, and she sat down on the bed "I don't think you should take me there…" She said dejectedly.

Caesar, who was rummaging through his closet, halted his action, and looked at her perplexed, "why should I not bring you?"

Renee touched her ears, "humans look down on our race… I'm afraid your prestige will go down because of me."

Caesar walked toward Renee and crouched down to look deeply into her eyes, "whether you were the most hated race or most loved, I would still bring you to the party," he said soothingly.

"W-why? Don't you care about the enemies you could make or the possible problems that could occur because of bringing me?"

Caesar stood up slowly and rubbed her hair "Renee, my view on this world is vastly different from others, when I look at you I see a beautiful and kind woman, whether you have ears or a tail… None of that matters to me."

Tears threatened to fall out her eyes as she looked at him "that's not the point, I know you care for me, it's just that I don't want to be a burden for you."

Caesar peered into her eyes with a deep and unfathomable light.

"If members of your race are slaves, I will abolish slavery… If members of your race are looked down upon, I will pull you up to where they will look up to you. I refuse to live by the rules of this world so that I will make my own," he said in an extremely oppressive tone.

Renee looked at Caesar with shock before she laughed cheerfully and put on a teasing smile " then I will wear that sexy dress you love so much."

"That sight is reserved for me," Caesar answered back calmly and began rummaging through his closet once again.

Renee just smiled and quietly walked behind Caesar, she put her arms around him and hugged him tightly.

  "thank you," she whispered sweetly.

They stood in that position for a few minutes before Renee finally let go… "bring my basket out. I have a cute dress inside," Renee said.

Caesar nodded his head and took the basket out of his spatial ring and turned away. He could hear the sound of her undressing behind him... the thought of turning to peek was extremely tempting, but, he held himself back.

"You can look now," Renee called out from behind him.

Caesar turned around and took in a breath of cold air, she was wearing a long black dress with a beautiful violet flower pattern, her upper back was bare, and the dress had a very sexy feel to it. It fit her long purple hair and yellow eyes perfectly.

Caesar clapped his hands and nodded his head in appreciation.

"Very nice!" he said with an impressed tone as he gave her a thumbs up.

A smile blossomed on her face, and she looked at Caesar with anticipation, "your turn."

Caesar picked out a white button-up shirt with a black bow tie, dark grey vest with four buttons that has a vertical line pattern, raven black slim-fit pants that also have a vertical line pattern. And a black long-sleeved suit jack that went over it all, he topped it off with a pair of white gloves and dress shoes.

"Okay, you can look," Caesar said.

Renee, which was currently looking away, turned around, she nodded in approval and smiled.

"not as flashy as I thought, but still looks very handsome," She praised.

Caesar smiled and brushed his long white hair, Renee did the same, and soon they were ready.

Caesar looked at the sun that was high in the air and chuckled softly "it would appear that we prepared a tad bit early, shall we play a board game to pass the time."

  "Sure!" Renee replied energetically.

  5 hours later...

Renee was gnashing her teeth in anger and practically growling at Caesar,

"you must be cheating. This is a luck-based game…" Renee snarled…

"Don't forget that you lost the bet. My darling," Caesar laughed happily.

"Young Master, the grand ball is starting soon, are you prepared?"

Caesar stood up and straightened his collar, he hooked his arm around Renee's and opened up the door.

  "We are ready."

Sebastian studied both of them and nodded in approval, "you will be walking in after the king. I will tell you when to walk inside. For now, follow me," Sebastian bowed profoundly and started walking through the hallway.

Caesar walked with Renee and followed after Sebastian, after about 15 minutes of walking they entered into a dimmed and empty room that had a wooden door on the other side. The rest was empty.

"This door leads to the hallway that is next to the throne. This is where you will walk through."

Caesar nodded his head in comprehension and waited patiently until it was their turn to present themselves.

He could feel Renee's slightly sweaty hands, so he turned towards her and flashed a smile "are you feeling excited thinking about when I take what you owe me from winning that bet?" he asked teasingly.

"Hmph, don't think I will be that easy" she smiled back, and the atmosphere eased quite a bit.

After about 10 minutes of waiting, Sebastian finally poked his head out of the door and said: "okay, you are up… Follow the hallway down."

Caesar didn't reply and walked through the wooden door. They entered into a nearly black hallway… they walked for about 10 seconds, and finally, they could see the light at the end of the hallway.

Caesar gripped Renee's hand tighter as they walked out of the hallway, bright lights soon assaulted their eyes, almost making them blink.

Gasps of admiration resounded throughout the palace halls…

"Wow, he puts all of the other nobles to shame," a noblewoman said with a sigh.

"He isn't only the most handsome in Rahvin kingdom, but I'm willing to bet in the whole world," another noblewoman said with stars in her eyes.

"Wow, who is that beauty by his sides?" a nobleman asked in astonishment.

"A f-fox kin?" another noble asked slightly dumbfounded…

Soon loud cheers blocked out the voices of the nobles… The citizens started applauding and cheering loudly. Caesar could even recognize a few of his knights in the bunch.

  "It's the Marshall!"

"I want him to come to mee
t my family!" a random knight said with a wide smile.

"Is this the man that trained you to become such a strong papa?" a young boy asked with a curious look.

  ----

Caesar looked at all of this with a smile on his face and walked to the middle of the ball. He waved his hands and greeted everyone.

  ----

A young noble with short brown hair and a freckled face ground his teeth in anger, "how dare he bring a slave race to the ball, is he trying to step on the prestige of the nobles? Those races are merely used to relieve our frustration on"

"You must stay calm, my liege, that is the crown prince you are talking about."

"Hehe, go bring me one of my fox-kin slaves… I wonder if he dares to do anything in front of all these nobles and commoners."

"M-master, I don't think that is a good idea… Maybe you should suck it up and not cause any problems for your father."

"Heh, I am of noble blood… It doesn't matter how great these plebeians are. I was born greater than them and will always be better no matter what they accomplish" The noble answered back with arrogance.

"B-but my liege, that is the same man that killed the previous crown prince in broad daylight… don't you think this is, well… a bit, stupid?" The servant tried hard to find the words.

"Preposterous, go bring me that fox-kin slave so I can humiliate his partner in front of his face, or I am going to take your wife as my next slave," The noble practically roared out.

The servant trembled in fear and bowed deeply, "as you command, my liege."

  CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Seeing all of the happy smiles on the citizen's faces, Renee smiled widely as well and gained some confidence. Ladies were walking up to her in droves.

"Oh my, how do you get your skin so beautiful?" a young noble lady asked.

"You're a perfect fit for the Marshall. Your beauty is unmatched!" A rough-looking man roared in laughter and complimented.

Caesar looked at Renee's happy smile and laughed heartily inside, he let her converse with all of the people crowding around her and decided to go find his father.

Caesar scanned the room for a few seconds before finally, he laid his eyes upon a few dukes crowding around Crowley, Caesar smiled imperceptibly and walked over.

"This is a great party so far, my father" Caesar greeted

Crowley stopped talking with the nearby dukes, and a smile blossomed on his face once he saw Caesar, "my son, you and Renee are looking very charming tonight," Crowley complimented and gave Caesar a big hug.

The dukes around them all smiled, "I am so envious of Crowley, to have such a great son is truly his luck."

"Haha, don't worry, my friends… your sons will accomplish much, just like mine," Crowley replied humbly.

The dukes laughed loudly and smiled, "hopefully in this new military school. They will show great talent."

Caesar looked at them, curiously, "how is the progress for the military school going?" Caesar asked.

"Haha, most of the opposition is gone… just that Rudolph family is against it," one of the dukes next to Crowley replied.

  "Rudolph?" Caesar asked curiously.

"Yeah, their family is against letting commoners enter the school. His firstborn son is known to purchase many slaves and bully the commoners. Alas, his family has a great deal of power in the kingdom. We can't just ignore his opinion," One of the dukes said in exasperation.

Crowley smiled and interrupted him "however, the Rudolph household head has finally agreed… he has, at last, come to his senses, it is probably that new daughter his wife gave birth to, haha," he laughed happily.

Caesar rested his chin on his right hand and changed the subject "how is the insurance plan going?" he asked curiously.

The nobles showed a troubled expression, "the plan itself is going to be implemented, the problem is the price… many of the left-wing officials are too greedy." one of the dukes said.

Caesar nodded his head in understanding, "you can't raise the tax too high; no one would pay an outrageous amount for something that may or may not be useful," he said in a calm tone.

  ----

"Oi, how much did he buy you for? I can give you twice as much haha," a snobbish and arrogant voice resounded inside the halls, interrupting their conversation.

Crowley, Caesar, and the other nobles all turned around to see what was going on.

In the middle of the halls, a young man with short brown hair and freckles all over his face was confronting Renee. The young man was a head shorter than Renee and looked like a clown. However, his luxurious clothes stated otherwise.

Renee looked at the young man in front of her with curiosity, "buy? What are you talking about?" she asked, dumbfounded.

The young man suddenly yanked the chain in his hand, and a nearly fully nude young fox-kin lady fell to the floor… she was riddled with scars and had clearly taken a large amount of abuse.

"Heh, I bought this beauty for only ten gold coins… how much did you cost?" the man smiled arrogantly and peeked over at Caesar.

The young man hated that Caesar was getting all of the attention. He wanted to give him a lesson.

The young man peeked over, expecting to see a rage-filled face. However, he was disappointed and instead saw that Caesar had an extremely calm face… so calm, in fact, that it made chills down his spine.

Once Renee laid eyes on the girl that looked 16 or perhaps younger, she shook in rage… She crouched down and helped the lady up.

"It's okay now, I'm here," Renee said soothingly.

Suddenly, the girl was pulled back once again, "don't touch my possessions without my permission again," The young man said with disdain.

The entire hall went silent while watching this scene unfold. The knights all ground their teeth in anger, they wanted to step in, but they feared they would put their families at risk.

  ----

Caesar squinted his eyes and asked in a low tone, "is that the eldest son of the Rudolph household?" he asked coldly.

"Yes, please do not spill any blood at this party. My son," Crowley answered back worriedly.

"The world is run on laws; those at the top must follow those same laws to give an example for those below them, yes?"

"That is correct, my son, slavery has been allowed since ancient times," Crowley answered back and nodded his head.

"Tsk," Caesar clicked his tongue in displeasure and walked over to where Renee was.

"Release her!" Renee yelled in anger. Blue flames danced on her palms.

Suddenly she felt a warm touch on her shoulders. She looked up and saw Caesar's tender expression… she calmed down and extinguished the flames on her palm.

Caesar shifted his gaze from Renee's beautiful face and stared at the young man in front of him.

"W-what are you looking at? It's not against the laws, you know? You can't do anything to me," The young man smiled confidently.

The entire hall looked at this scene with displeasure, a perfectly grand ball was ruined by a snot-nosed brat.

"You were born with everything, power, influence, women, food… but, you never gained the responsibility that is needed to possess those things," Caesar said quietly while shaking his head in disappointment.

Caesar scanned the halls calmly, he stepped forward and crouched down. He reached for the girl that was lying on the ground and moved the bangs of hair that covered her face.

A young and beautiful face presented itself to the entire hall, her eyes were slightly withered, but there was still some light present.

Caesar moved his face even closer, the people in the hall on concentrated their gaze on the words Caesar looked like he was about to say, but not on his subtle hands that if one looked closely enough passed a slightly shiny like object to the girl's hands.

Caesar whispered, indecipherably, "I will protect you, run wild" Caesar smiled and stood back up.

he patted the young noble on his shoulders and asked curiously, "what is your name?"
>
"Randy," The young noble replied hastily.

"I see, well, Randy, to answer your question earlier, Renee is not for sale, and even if you offered the entire world, it would still not be enough" Caesar smiled coldly and turned around with Renee.
